Transport Planner
Do you want to be a valued part of the critical infrastructure that serves communities across Europe and beyond? Are you looking for a position in which you can set direction and help shape our company? If so, then you could be the newest addition to our team as a Transport Planner.
Be part of the movement - and play your part.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Planner to join our busy logistics team, coordinating daily operations across Inverness and Glasgow. In this fast-paced role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient scheduling of vehicles, maintaining strong communication with drivers and customers, and supporting overall service excellence. Your ability to plan effectively, solve problems under pressure, and maintain attention to detail will be key to keeping our transport activities running seamlessly and efficiently.
You will be responsible for
- Planning and allocating daily workloads for a fleet of around 30 vehicles, ensuring routes are efficient and meet customer delivery schedules.
- Maintaining constant communication with drivers, providing instructions, updates, and support to resolve any on-road or operational issues.
- Liaising directly with customers, particularly key retail partners, to provide delivery updates and handle any service-related queries.
- Monitoring and tracking all consignments from collection to delivery, ensuring timely completion and accurate system updates.
- Working closely with the Compliance and Maintenance Teams to coordinate vehicle servicing, manage driver hours, and ensure all operations meet legal and safety standards.
About you
You are a highly organised and proactive professional with a natural ability to plan, prioritise, and solve problems in a fast-paced transport environment. With hands-on experience in both dry and cold chain logistics, you have a strong understanding of industry standards and the demands of complex, time-sensitive operations. Your advanced IT skills — particularly within Microsoft Office — support your accuracy and efficiency, while your confident communication style enables you to build strong relationships with drivers, customers, and colleagues alike. You thrive in a team setting but are equally capable of working independently, taking initiative, and adapting quickly to changing priorities. A Transport Manager CPC qualification would be an advantage, but above all, we’re looking for someone with the drive, professionalism, and attention to detail to help us deliver outstanding results every day.
We think the strongest teams are built on diversity and inclusivity. Contrasting opinions, varied skills and strong characters bring out the best in us all. And we cannot wait for you to join.
