Freight Forwarder
Due to continued organic growth, we are currently looking to add a Freight Forwarder at our Dover office. You will have the opportunity to be part of a highly efficient logistics operation that focuses on exceeding customer's expectations and giving the highest levels of customer service.
As a member of our Freight Forwarding team at DFDS you will be tasked with creating customer and haulier relationships, taking on work, and selling it to a third party. Collaborating with contracted clients to boost route options, and DFDS fleet vehicles to help reduce any empty legs. About the role
Working 5 from 7 days per week, (either Sunday – Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday), between the hours of 8:00 – 17:00, you’ll be communicating with customers along with 3rd party hauliers when joining a dedicated team, assisting the planning department, delivering high standards of service whilst liaising with clients regarding potential issues.
You will be responsible for
- Day-to-day running of the Freight Forwarding Department within the Dover office.
- Developing relationships with both customers & third-party hauliers.
- Liaise with sub-contractors to arrange carriage of goods.
- Monitor Customer Service Satisfaction.
- Organise operational workflow to meet customer timeframes.
- Ensure all Company policies are followed.
About you
- Proven experience, minimum of 1yrs, in transport, freight forwarding or logistics.
- To be ambitious & career driven, excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of transport regulations and documentation desirable.
- A person capable of decisive and effective decision-making, in a time pressured environment.
- Someone that really enjoys resolving problems and demonstrates high levels of resilience, self-motivation, and flexibility.
- Team player and uses initiative - doesn't mind getting stuck in and helping each other.
